It has been quite a while, I know. Things have been crazy (mostly in my own head) and I thought it best not to shove it in other people's faces. Be it here or Facehell. But onto the meat and potatoes of this post.
I am one of the (moronic) few who still play World of Warcraft, albeit sporadically. There are just some days where I don't want to deal with it at all and just do a few daily quests with the logic that (if) when I get back to it more seriously, I will have cut out a lot of grunt work... or somesuch shit. I am also running on less than 3 hours of sleep so I take no responsibility for anything posted here. *cough*
Erm... Right, onto the Interface...
World of Warcraft from the perspective of a neurotically challenged individual.

Patch 4.1
Patch 4.1 is live on the US realms and will go live tonight on the EU realms. While Blizzard has not removed the PTR status of the patch notes from the official site, starting up the game does reveal that the current version is indeed 4.1.
Don't forget to check for developer updates for your addons. Then, either go through your addons *.toc files interface versions to 40100 or click "Load out-of-date addons" in the options from the character selection screen in-game. The latter is usually less time consuming. The *.toc files can be found in \World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns in their individual addons' main directory.
Happy hunting.

Alexis vs. UI (Part 5)
It's maintenance day on the US realms, so I am going to take the time to talk about my favourite subject (and yours!)... the user interface.
Dun, dun, DUN!!!
Dun, dun, DUN!!!

Spring Cleaning
Since I have switched into solo mode, I decided to clean out my interface folder of the guild, raid, and dungeon addons. Hopefully, it will have an impact on the game loading time. Deadly Boss Mods was a pretty big one, but since I already had it disabled for most of my characters, I probably won't notice a difference. I will do my usual lengthy addon list post when I have the brain capacity to deal with it.

Your Vote Counts!
Or at least that's what we are told. Well, I voted and I feel important. (I don't really. I just said that to have more words in this blog post.) It's a topic I am well versed in. Addons! Check it out here!

Clutz-o-rama
I just logged in and confirmed that the two conflicting minimap addons were indeed the reason I couldn't ping the minimap but I still can't get the tracking menu to come up when I middle-click which is a function I had with BasicMinimap and not PocketPlot. I probably just installed one over the other without realising that I had the other already - a minor drawback to manually updating all of your addons instead of entrusting them to an automatic updater and most certainly the result of my Aries "ready! fire! aim!" syndrome. >:|

Alexis vs. UI (Part 4)
Since my subscription has experienced a temporary lapse and I have not been able to log in for a few days, I thought it would be a good idea to post something here. What better a topic than my ever-changing UI! Actually, I think I have it just about perfect and it has been quite a while since I have posted anything about it, so here we go...

Alexis vs. UI (part 2)
I am currently making some changes to my UI. The visual effect is minor, but I am modifying it enough to warrant its own blog entry. So here we go.

Alexis vs. UI (part 1)
It just occurred to me that I haven't posted a list of my current addons yet. Since I started this little blog, I've swapped out a few but my UI has remained relatively-unchanged. These addons help my neuroses in one way or another, most of them doing so by removing/moving sometimes debilitating distractions.

Hacking World of Warcraft
I am trying to get to where I can build my own addons because the majority of addons out there are far too bloated for my personal needs. To someone in my condition, bloat equates to distractions that can be very bad during certain encounters and slow down performance and reaction time overall. So I picked up Hacking World of Warcraft a few days ago and after skipping the first 10 chapters, am now diving into the guts of creating my own addons. We'll see how this goes because of my limited attention span and even more limited patience.
